Course aim
To develop and apply knowledge of nutritional requirements for optimal growth and development throughout the lifespan.
Course content
Role of nutrients in the regulation of growth, maintenance and repair of tissues during the life stages: pre-natal, pregnancy and lactation, childhood, adolescence, adulthood (including the elderly). Special Nutritional concerns of children, adolescents and the elderly. Nutritional, environmental and sociocultural influences on body weight; health implications associated with overweight/obesity; evidence based approaches for weight management in children and adults.
