Course aim
To enable students to analyse destination management issues and to evaluate the strategies used by the tourism and event industry to develop sustainable tourist destinations.
Course content
Strategic choices and approaches to sustainable destination development; destination positioning; destination competitiveness; destination product development; special interest tourism development; crisis management; sustainability planning and tools; stakeholder approach; industry partnerships; industry quality control; social responsibility for community development; cultural diversity; environmental management practices; green leadership; visitor management approaches; sustainable tourism futures; and problematics of implementation of sustainability.
