Course aim

To develop students' advanced skills in the compilation of news reports on location as well as the technical competencies of filming and editing required of video journalists, and to develop students' advanced abilities in writing and presentation commensurate with industry practice.

Course content

Students will build on broadcasting skills in the preparation of television news/current affairs and video journalist (VJ) versions, compiling television and video journalism stories and filming and editing procedures. They will also demonstrate advanced competencies in producing skills and working to deadlines, scripting for television news/current affairs and video journalism work online as well as interviewing techniques. Students will demonstrate advanced abilities in identifying potential television news and video journalist stories, producing and personal presentations according to industry standards. Students will also demonstrate advanced capabilities to work collaboratively as team members as well as autonomously.
