Course aim

Develop students’ understanding of areas of public health practice and the role of research and evidence relevant to improving public health within a global and national context.

Course content

Introduction to public health areas of practice and career pathways; professionalism; ethical integrity; academic
writing; population health, public health and epidemiology; determinants of health; sources of population health data; risk factors; measures of disease occurrence and risk; association between determinants of health and health outcomes; screening; health research designs; public health strategies.
