Course aim
To promote an understanding of the social, cultural and environmental determinants of health, with a specific focus on the health of Indigenous Australians and disadvantaged populations.
Course content
Core concepts of health; common measures of health (morbidity, birth/death rates, burden of disease etc.); risk factors, social , cultural and environmental determinants affecting health across state, national, international populations with special reference to marginalised or disadvantaged groups such as indigenous peoples; current and new challenges to health and health care systems, health promotion: principles and interventions.
