Course aim

To undertake a comprehensive study of the anatomy of the human nervous system (central and peripheral) and the gross anatomy of the head and neck regions.

Course content

Gross anatomy of the head and neck, central and peripheral nervous systems, various primary and association functional areas (including visual, auditory, vestibular, speech areas, motor and sensory areas) of the cerebral cortex, ascending and descending motor and sensory tracts, ventricular system, basal nuclei and the limbic system, origin, and function of peripheral nerves, blood supply of the central nervous system. Gross anatomy of the eye, ear, muscles of eye, tongue, mastication, facial muscles, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the scalp.
