Course aim

This course aims to explore theoretical and practical approaches to offender rehabilitation and the reduction of recidivism by Correctional Services agencies in Australia.

Course content

This course will introduce the role, function and approach of Correctional Service agencies in Australia. Students will consider and apply different offender intervention and rehabilitation approaches (risk based and strength-based) to address recidivism in practice. Students will examine evidence-based policies and practices that underpin professional practice in implementing positive change and community reintegration.
