UO Accounting Principles for Business Decisions

Course aim

The course provides students with an introduction to principles of management accounting and finance, and examines how financial information is used in business decision making. The course uses an applied approach to illustrate how accounting and financial management concepts operate in a broad range of situations relevant to a future career in business.

This course is designed for students undertaking programs outside the School of Commerce. It is not suitable for programs within the School of Commerce and their associated double degrees. These programs are DBIB (Economics, Finance and Trade), DBCC (Commerce), DBCA (Commerce (Accounting)), DBPY (Property), DBBF (Applied Finance) and DBCF (Finance). Students undertaking these programs are required to complete ACCT 1008 Accounting for Business. ACCT 1009 Accounting Principles for Business Decisions cannot be taken as an elective in any program which requires ACCT 1008.
